IHC Plot Allotments to Judges Suspended in the New Sectors of Islamabad

Islamabad-Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Athar Minallah suspended the allotment of plots in F-14 & F-15 Sectors of Capital to the Judges due to conflict of interest. The court issued a notice to Attorney the General. It demanded an explanation from the Ministry of Housing & Works on giving out plots to the specific segment of the society. A larger committee has been summoned on September 13th for the hearing on the matter.

The plots were allotted to Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed and other judges & bureaucrats, including Dr. Waqar Masood Khan and Dr. Shahzad Arbab, to name a few, by Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGHA) after the balloting.

The matter was brought to light after hearing a petition filed against land acquisition by the property owners of villages Thalla Syedan and Jhangi Syedan located in Islamabad District. The said plots were allotted to every Judicial officer involved in the case who was expected to resolve the matter. Furthermore, among the beneficiaries were the name of judges who are currently under observation for incompetence.

The properties in question are allotted to the beneficiaries significantly lower than the ongoing market rates.

However, the spokesperson from the society contradicted the claims and stated that the registration process started under the membership drive Phase II on Age-wise seniority basis for federal employees and other groups as per approved policy and eligibility quota of the FGHEHA.
